THE SURVIVALIST: Jonathan Rhys Meyers & John Malkovich Go Toe to Toe in the Brutal New Trailer for the Upcoming Action-Thriller!

By: John M Jerva

Post apocalyptic thrillers can definitely be hit or miss in the direct to video or digital era but throw in acting heavyweight John Malkovich and Jonathan Rhys Meyers and this one might be worth the price of admission. The movie is called The Survivalist and we have a brand new and brutal trailer for you ahead of its release this October.

In The Survivalist, a former FBI agent (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is forced to protect a young woman (Ruby Modine), who is immune to the disease from a dangerous gang leader (John Malkovich) hunting her for her blood.

Starring along with Malkovich and Meyers are Ruby Modine, Lori Petty, and Julian Sands. Helmed by Jon Keeyes from a script penned by Matthew Rogers, the film will see a limited theatrical launch along with Digital on October 1st.

The image released a while back of Malkovich and his crew peeked my interest and I’m always curious how Hollywood will attack virus movies in the future after the pandemic. I’m sure we’ll get more serious fair to go along with the post apocalyptic actioners and this one looks to fall in the latter category. Personally, I’m eager to see if Malkovich channels a little Cyrus “The Virus” in this one.

The one person who can save the world plot line has been done to death but this one with Malkovich at the helm might make it stand out. The film will also hit Blu-Ray and DVD on October 19th. Peek at the new trailer below!
