Paramount Pictures has done a bit of reshuffling today as they announced schedule changes for a few of their upcoming action pics in Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 as well as The Tomorrow War with Chris Pratt.
The word comes from Deadline which states that the seventh outing for Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt will now hit theaters on November 19, 2021, instead of July 23, 2021 and the eighth film will now bow on November 4, 2022, instead of August 5, 2022. They also moved the sci-fi actioner The Tomorrow War with Chris Pratt from December of this year to next summer on July 23rd which is the only wide release set so far for that weekend.
Cruise reunites with director Christopher McQuarrie for both 7 and 8 of the blockbuster franchise which will see Cruise return as super agent Ethan Hunt which will certainly include more insane stunt action. Reports are saying that the film will probably scrap filming in Italy as they have been hit hard by the pandemic.
In The Tomorrow War, when humanity is losing to an alien invasion, scientists develop a way in order to fight the invasion by creating a way to draft soldiers from the past to fight the war. The film will follow a man drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront his past.
Pratt stars along with Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as well as Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), Betty Gilpin (GLOW). Also featured are Sam Richardson, Theo Von, Jasmine Matthews, Keith Powers, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Edwin Hodge, Mike Mitchell, Seychelle Gabriel (Falling Skies), Alan Trong (Alita: Battle Angel), newcomer Chibuikem Uche and Alexis Louder (Harriet).
Chris McKay helms the film from a script penned by Zach Dean (Deadfall, 24 Hours to Live). Skydance is funding the film with Paramount releasing it.
The site also stated that Paramount’s New Dungeons And Dragons film will release on May 27, 2022.
