More late breaking news this Monday evening as Variety is reporting that Disney and Marvel are setting their collective sights on Bumblebee actress Hailee Steinfeld for the role of Kate Bishop in their Hawkeye limited series for Disney+ that will also star Jeremy Renner who will return as Clint Barton. Renner’s Hawkeye will serve as a mentor to Bishop who is poised to take the Archer’s place in the ranks of the Young Avenegers.

Pre Variety: The limited series will see Jeremy Renner reprise the role of the titular bow-wielding hero that he has played through multiple films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most recently in “Avengers: Edngame.” Should Steinfeld join the series, she would play Kate Bishop. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who took up the Hawkeye mantle after Clint Barton (Renner). She is also a member of the group known as the Young Avengers. It was reported last week that Jonathan Igla is attached to write and executive produce the series.

Just like the other Marvel limited series, the Hawkeye series will be six to eight episodes long and have a substantial budget. These series will, of course, link to the MCU films. Other shows coming include Loki, Wandavision, and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. She-Hulk, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel were also recently announced at last months’ D23 Fan Expo.

Steinfeld is currently in talks to portary Bishop and if she indeed lands the role, it will most likely be a lengthy engagement as Steinfeld will certainly play the character in other future projects. At the time of the article, both Disney and Steinfeld’s reps have not made a comment so keep it locked and loaded right here for more to come on this developing story.
