I always ask how funny was it that there was a time when The Punisher was in danger of being cancelled. All the haters coming out of the dirt to say that his time had come and there is no place for a comic book character like him in today’s world (today’s world sucks BTW). Fast forward and now Frank Castle is literally everywhere and if Howard Stern isn’t careful, The Punisher might become the new “king of all media.” There are several series and limited series featuring the gun toting vigilante for rabid readers to consume with more on the way and Jon Bernthal is getting the opportunity to reprise the role which he has already done with the one-shot special Punisher: One Last Kill. This week marks a milestone as after a seventeen-year absence, The Punisher will make his triumphant resurgence on the big screen as Bernthal will be starring in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. To quote Mr. Wick, “yeah I’m thinking I’m back!”
Now Frank is going toe to toe with the Merc with a Mouth AKA Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool for a special four-part crossover series titled Big Guns. Now these two anti-heroes have tussled before but never like this and this crossover is promising all the blood, bullets and hijinks that one can shake a stick at. Check out the intel before!
Marvel Comics proudly unveils BIG GUNS, a four-part crossover kicking off this September in Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw’s Wade Wilson: Deadpool (2026) and Percy and José Luis Soares Punisher (2026). Both acclaimed runs have returned Marvel’s two trigger-happy icons to their roots with uncompromising, no-holds-barred storytelling, aligning the fates for this dangerous and ultra-violent showdown!

TARGET: FRANK CASTLE! Deadpool’s got a new mission! A new vehicle! And a new… ENEMY? Wait, are we talking about Frank Castle? BIG GUNS starts here, as multiple forces converge on the ultimate weapon… but only one can emerge victorious!

The crossover event will kick off in Wade Wilson: Deadpool #8 hitting stands on 9/2 and continue a week later on 9/9 with Punisher #8. The story centers on the two most dangerous killers taking each other one while there is a mysterious force at work that just might be manipulating the two. If you ask me, I think they will start out as adversaries and eventually figure things out and unite amidst a hail fire of bullets, swords, explosions and massive amounts of blood and dead bodies hitting the floor.
There are, of course, cover A for both issues with additional variants including the warp around that you see above. Keep in mind, besides the new ongoing Punisher series, frank is also set to battle the undead with Marvel Zombies: War Zone which is yet another limited series event. There is also The Punisher: Showdowns which pits Castle against familiar adversaries like Black Widow, Wolverin and Winter Soldier. The reports of frank Castle’s demise have been greatly exaggerated to say the least.
Expect more bloodshed and bombastic shenanigans to continue the following month so keep it locked ‘n’ loaded right here for more to come!
