Heeee’s baaaaack! That’s right folks, if you were just saying to yourself that you miss some good output from infamous filmmaker Uwe Boll, you’re in luck because he has returned and he is resurrecting the career of Armie hammer in the process. The new film is called Citizen Vigilante, and we have the first look at the trailer which shows Hammer going Punisher style on society’s worse criminals. Take a peek at the bloodshed in store below!
“Citizen Vigilante”, is a “Death Wish” for the 21st Century. The movie follows vigilante Sanders (Golden Globe nominee Armie Hammer), who takes justice in his own hands and hunts down criminals. While Sanders gains more and more fame, and the public sees him as a hero, interpol chief Henry (Costas Mandylor) believes he is a threat to society and is circling in on him.
Hammer stars along with some legit genre cred as Costas Mandylor (the Saw franchise) also stars as the law enforcement officer hot on the case. Quiver Distribution is looking to release Citizen Vigilante this June in select theaters as well as Digital and On Demand. The film was called Dark Knight at one time but that didn’t last long because…well…you know why.
TRAILER REACTION: I’m not gonna lie as I have found myself enjoying a few of Boll’s earlier efforts such as In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale with Jason Statham as well as Bloodrayne with Kristanna Loken. Yeah, I know most of them are train wrecks but there is a guilty pleasure aspect to some of them and Statham was all one-man army kicking ass in his earlier days before he broke out with The Transporter and became a household name in action. Citizen Vigilante does look decent, and the action looks visceral and bloody with Hammer looking the part as dark avenger. When all is said and done, the word is still out if Hammer has a career in Hollywood but if he can pull this one off, then there might just be a job in indie action cinema for the one-time Hollywood A lister who has had a troubled few years to say the least. Everyone deserves a second chance, and I do not judge so I’m looking forward to seeing how this one plays out. Seeing Hammer rock out with dual machine guns is tantalizing so I say bring it.
