CinemaCon 2026 is in full swing in Las Vegas and while movie companies try to swoon theater owners with a slate of films to excite them for the upcoming year, Sony Pictures was the inaugural company to open up the event. With that, Spider-Man was present as well as some other properties like the new Resident Evil film from director Zach Creggers and some new intel on the announced Helldivers film with Jason Momoa.
First up, Spider-Man: Brand New Day invaded the panel and with that, an extended sequence was shown, and Sony debuted two new posters with one definitely going up on my wall when I can get one. The sequence was a softer moment in the film where Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is assaulted with the fact that no one remembers who he is. The sequence was shown briefly in the trailer where Peter attends a party with MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) and it was said to be bittersweet.
Anyway, enough of all that. Check out the new posters below now with more Ninjas!

The official synopsis reads: After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
Along with Brand New Day, Sony also brought out more on the long-delayed Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and we now have sone images from the movie which highlights the genre bending animation that the films are known for. Not much is known about the third film in the trilogy, but we do know that the film will continue after the events of Across the Spider-Verse, as our protagonist Miles Morales is lost in an alternate universe and is trying to save his family. Check out the images below!

Next up, Zach Cregger was present to introduce the new trailer for his vision of Resident Evil. The video game IP has had an interesting run with several movies and TV shows both live action and animated with some success and many failures, but it looks like it might be on track with Cregger helming this one. Trailer description says that it was a wild ride with Cregger looking to deliver on the promise of delivering something faithful to the franchise.
It would appear that Sony gave the keys to the right person and Cregger will look to inject some much-needed juice into the zombie filled franchise.
Justin Lin also announced that the highly anticipated live action Helldivers film with Jason Moma will start pre-production in two weeks. Per Deadline: The game debuted in 2015 and the sequel, Helldivers 2, sold more than 12 million units across PS5 and PC in the first four months after its 2024 launch. The game recently expanded to Xbox and continues to perform. Helldivers 2‘s story centers around an elite unit of soldiers — known as Helldivers — who must battle alien creatures threatening to destroy the fictional planet of Super Earth.

Other noteworthy announcements from the Sony panel reveal that an R-rated animated film based on the best-selling video game Bloodborne. Jacksepticeye was announced as attached to develop the film which centers on “a lone traveler navigating a haunting, gothic city overrun by twisted mobs and terrifying creatures lurking around every corner. Known for its extreme difficulty and deeply layered lore, the game has built a devoted fan base over the years, with many players still pondering its mysteries long after the game’s release.”

Overall, those in attendance mentioned how underwhelming Sony’s panel was with no real stars showing up and some major missed opportunities so we shall see how Warner Bros does with their panela s they are next up on day 2. Anyway, the posters for Brand New Day were awesome so I’ll take that and those Ninjas are going up on my wall. More to come so lock ‘n’ load!
