After an underwhelming initial teaser trailer and a genuine “you spent 10 million for a big game spot on that?” for the upcoming Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, Disney and Lucasfilm may look to right the ship as the tried-and-true trope of giving fans a teaser of a trailer has finally oozed a little Star Wars vibe. A much-needed vibe as well. Although the former did feature some cool action and an epic shot of old school AT-AT Walkers, the Super Bowl spot went for big game nostalgia, and it fumbled on the one-yard line. I mean, come on, half the audience for the lackluster 60th Super Bowl wasn’t even alive when the Budweiser Clydesdales were a thing. Anyway, I digress and now we have a flinting glimpse of hope as today we saw a fast teaser for the trailer that is dropping tomorrow and it was better than anything we’ve seen so far. Scroll below for what is to come when the trailer hits tomorrow.
Official Synopsis: The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu also stars Sigourney Weaver and is produced by Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with music composed by Ludwig Göransson.

Jon Favreau returns to direct from a script penned by himself, new co-head of Lucasfilm Dave Filoni with George Lucas, of course, given Star Wars credit for creating the whole damn thing. Pedro Pascal, who pretty much is in everything as of late returns as Mando along with Hollywood icon Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’s Jeremy Allen White is also set to make a voiceover as Rotta the Hutt.
From the epic shot of X-Wings filling an illuminated red and orange sky to seeing an old friend in R2-D2, this 15 second trailer tease definitely made me feel a little more hopeful for the extended look to come tomorrow. Plus, who can’t help but goAWWW over Mando telling a feisty Grogu to stop playing with the controls like we saw in the series. The trailer will still have to deliver a lot more than this but here’s hoping we see what we want to see. I loved the series and even the divisive third season so here’s hoping the firstStar Wars film to hit the big screen in seven years delivers something we haven’t been getting from the Disney+ shows.
Check back tomorrow for my thoughts on the extended look and even in these dark times let us all say, “This is the way.”
