I was surprised when Sony announced that they would be spinning off a Spider-Noir series which hails from their Spider-Verse films. I loved the character when he was introduced in the first film and having Hollywood bad boy Nicolas Cage voicing the gumshoe crackling crime fighter was a stroke of genius. Reservations did abound as many were wondering if they could nail the desired tome and aesthetics of the series and judging by the first look trailer (which is available in both color and B&W), they did exactly just that. Scroll below for a new take on an old superhero icon!

Watching the trailer reminds me why I love Cage so much and it pains me that some of you out there are unaware of what a big Hollywood star he was back in the day. Combing Spider-Man with Sin City for a noirish, immersive and unsettling experience is fabulous. Offering two ways to view is also a chef’s kiss and I just might check out both to see which one serves up the best experience for this series. Buckle up buttercups, because fanboydom everywhere is about to get an adrenaline shot of Spidey with the attitude of the Cage! Now let’s get plastered!
