I normally don’t promote video games on the site as I hardly have the time to do action itself but there always comes a time when an action franchise transcends pop culture and reinvents itself as a video game for the masses. The franchise here is John Wick and Saber and Lionsgate have united to drop fans right into the expertly tailored suit of one of the action cinema’s most famous (or infamous) assassins ever! Scroll below for the first look video for the upcoming third person shooter that never fails to reload!
Created in collaboration between Saber, Lionsgate, and franchise director Chad Stahelski, the new “Untitled John Wick Game” will feature an original script set in the John Wick timeline, expanding on the franchise’s intricate lore with familiar characters fans already know, as well as completely new ones. Saber’s design will be faithful to the unique style and signature elements of the series, including a distinct gun fu combat system, jaw-dropping camerawork, immersive driving experiences, and a variety of memorable environments, all crafted to make players feel like they are in a John Wick movie, playing the role of John Wick himself.
The John Wick game is a single-player/third-person video game that is being developed for multiple consoles including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. What will make this game a truly authentic and immersive John Wick experience is the fact that franchise star Keanu Reeves and director/co-creator Chad Stahelski are involved in the creation of the game. It’s definitely the voice of Reeves at the end of the trailer so expect his voiceover to accompany the game.
According to Variety, the game will combine the “unparalleled, adrenaline-fueled ‘gun-fu’ fighting style” of John Wick, with “Saber’s proven reputation for creating thrilling gaming experiences that leave players craving more.“
The John Wick game will also do something different as it will be a prequel to the films and even take place before Wick’s iconic impossible task and deep dive into the IP’s lore even more. The game will feature all the characters we know and love while introducing new ones to expand the universe even more.

“I can’t wait for fans to step into the shoes of John Wick and explore the multi-dimensional world of The High Table. We are collaborating closely with Saber’s dedicated team to develop a game that captures the unparalleled action, brand-defining fight choreography, immersive world-building, and authenticity of the films,“ Jenefer Brown, President of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate stated in the article.
Matthew Karch, CEO at Saber Interactive, added, “John Wick is one of the most iconic characters in action film history. Saber is honored to be working alongside Chad, Keanu and the Lionsgate team in a true collaboration to bring the world of Wick to life in a AAA game.“
The trailer serves up an eclectic first look at the game, and it definitely oozes a cinematic vibe to it that rivals the films. The action looks fluid and the brutal Gun Fu combat looks near perfect so being able to control the baba Yaga himself will undoubtedly be a once in a lifetime treat for gamers.
As for the films itself, even though Chapter 4 seemed to close the book on Reeves’ anti-hero, a planned fifth film is in the works. There is still also a planned animated prequel in development as well as Donnie Yen’s Caine spin-off. Yen will star in and direct the movie which will immerse the John Wick franchise with Hing Kiong infused action.
