It’s action film acquisition time as Screen Daily has dropped the intel that powerhouse martial arts action star/filmmaker Bren Foster’s latest bruiser titled Mexicali has been nabbed by Samuel Goldwyn Films and it is readying a March theatrical release. Foster is one of the most legit action stars out there and the Australian phenom is back in a new movie that sees him playing a former spec ops warrior who must sharpen his dormant skills once again when a ruthless drug cartel terrorizes his family and his farm. Expect the bodies to hit the floor with this one and we have a first look image from the film which you can see below!

Foster is purely the action talent here as veteran stunt and fight coordinator Luke LaFontaine marks his directorial debut from a script penned by longtime collaborator and fellow action filmmaker and maestro Jesse V. Johnson.
Per Screen Daily, Action veteran Jesse V. Johnson wrote the screenplay to the story of a former special forces contractor who is forced out of retirement as an avocado farmer in Mexico when local gangsters try to force him and his family off their farm.
Johnson’s longtime stunt and fight coordinator Luke LaFontaine makes his feature directorial debut and the cast includes Tania Raymonde, Plutarco Haza, and Kris Van Damme. Foster will next star alongside Luke Hemsworth and Russell Crowe in Lionsgate’s upcoming Beast In Me.

Along with Samuel Goldwyn Films snagging domestic distribution, Mexicali has also sold in Latin America (California Filmes), Middle East (Eagle), East Europe and Portugal (Daro), South Korea (Jaye Entertainment), France (Program Store), and India (Pictureworks).
Foster is set to have a banner 2026 as he will also be seen in the MMA bruiser Beast starring fellow Aussie Daniel MacPherson from Strike Back fame. Foster will be playing the heavy in that one alongside MacPherson’s protagonist. Foster is also putting the finishing touches on his sophomore directorial effort Relentless. The latter is also an MMA infused underground actioner with Foster playing a man who literally has nothing to lose.
