Jake Gyllenhaal in a scene from Guy Ritchie's the Covenant
Hollywood A lister Jake Gyllenhaal is certainly one of the hottest actors in Tinseltown right now and he even has a pretty solid side job as one of the most bankable action stars to boot with recent roles in Ambulance, Prime Video’s Road House reboot and Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant. Gyllenhaal is also set to star alongside Henry Cavill and Eiza Gonzalez in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming action-thriller In the Grey which hits on April 10th and now we have word that he will continue his bravado laced streak in a new action spec called Kill Switch.
Deadline brought the confirmation yesterday and it is also being said that Netflix has nabbed the rights which hails from Harrison Query. According to the report, 6th & Idaho’s Matt Reeves & Lynn Harris are going to produce the film with Gyllenhaal & Josh McLauglin’s Nine Stories production banner and Scott Glassgold’s 12:01 Films. Along with writing duties, Query will also executive produce.
The plot is under wraps for the time being, but it is being said that Kill Switch will have the flavor of Collateral infused with Sicario which sounds like an immersive and unflinching ride full of bullets and bravado thatb will check all the boxes for hardcore fans. Query is certainly on a roll as of late as he was responsible for last year’s Heads of State which starred John Cena and Idris Elba. The action-comedy went on to become the fourth most streaming movie of all time when it hit Prime Video.
Gyllenhaal and Query are also teaming on the thriller Code Black for Amazon MGM with f 6th & Idaho, Nine Stories and 12:01 aboard to producing that one as well.
