I’ve always said that with the right projects, Scott Eastwood (son of Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood) could be one of the most popular action stars working today. Aside from the Fast films, Eastwood has mostly dabbled in DTV actioners but that isn’t a bad thing and for his latest actioner, Eastwood is teaming up with some heavyweights in Jamie Foxx and the one and only Robert De Niro for director Brad Furman’s upcoming cult thriller.
Eastwood plays a soldier with PTSD who gets tangled up with a maniacal cult leader who is using former soldiers to form an army to do his bidding. Masking his cult as a community to heal damaged soldiers, Foxx plays the charismatic The Bokushi who is preaching one thing but is secretly looking to destroy innocents and topple the government. DiNiro is the man who hires Eastwood’s Nash Cavanaugh, a former special operator, to infiltrate the place he escaped from to bring down The Bokushi and save the lives of hundreds including his wife played by Nora Arnezeder (The Offer). What follows is a fever dream decent into hell where only one man will be left standing.
Check out the new trailer and key art below!
The Bokushi (Foxx) preaches to hundreds of veterans who have been drawn to the promise of protection and purpose under him. Surrounded by his devout, military-trained followers, he has built an impenetrable fortress and amassed an arsenal of weapons. After several failed infiltration attempts, the government — in the form of military operative Emmanuel Ashburn (De Niro) — recruits Nash Cavanaugh (Eastwood), an ex-Special Forces asset, who was once a disciple of The Bokushi. Nash agrees to use his vulnerable past and insider knowledge of the enigmatic leader to finally get revenge on the man who took everything from him, including the love of his life.

Tin Soldier features a spectacular ensemble cast to bring up the rear including John Leguizamo (John Wick), Shamier Anderson (Wynonna Earp), Rita Ora (the Fifty Shades franchise), Nora Arnezeder (The Offer), Saïd Taghmaoui (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum) and Joey Bicicchi (Black Bird). Furman helms Tin Soldier from a script penned by Jess Fuerst.
Upon viewing the new trailer, fans should take note that this one looks to be a little off the beat and path of more traditional action-thrillers with Foxx chewing up the scenery as the antagonist and De Niro bringing his usual A game in the gravitas department. Like I stated above, Tin Soldier looks like a fever dream meshed with heavy weighted drama, action and taut thrills. This film should definitely be worth checking out when it hits, if for anything, watching something that does it a little differently.
