Catching up on the past week’s trailer releases sees Quiver Distribution dropping a new teaser for their upcoming cyberpunk actioner Kill Code. Starring a pretty solid genre cast including Tyrese Gibson, Frank Grillo and Harvey Keitel, this one looks to infuse a little Johnny Mnemonic into a new generation while hopefully delivering some slick and brutal action design. After the Second Civil War, Alpire Industries promises lasting peace through the ONYX Program: AI-powered watches strapped to criminals, forcing them into deadly combat for redemption. But the system is evolving beyond its creators’ control. When cyber-enhanced operative Elera uncovers the truth, she becomes the corporation’s most wanted fugitive. Hunted by her former mentor, Eion Vass, Elera joins a rogue resistance to destroy Alpire’s mainframe before the AI turns all humanity into targets.
Franzi Schissler headlines the film as the relentless and bad ass new age warrior while getting some serious backup in the supporting cast realm with Harvey Keitel, Tyrese Gibson and Frank Grillo coming in hot to deliver a little genre bending coolness. Justic Price writes and directs.
TRAILER TACTICAL REACTION: Kill Code certainly looks impressive as it features some worthy visuals with limited means. the Trailer is long enough to generate what the story is about but unfortunately, we don’t get to see enough of the action design here. What we do see is certainly impressive and Franzi Schissler is definitely channeling some new age action hero cred so here’s hoping the film delivers where it needs to. I’m fine with a tease if the actual movie contains ample amounts of ass kicking. It looks like Gibson and Grillo are more extended cameos maybe but that’s Ok if Schissler employs some action cinema worthy beast mode with the adrenaline fused moments.
