It’s almost impossible to remember how it felt when the UFC first came on the air. At first it was pretty much a three-ring circus with different styles of combat going at each other with usually ridiculous results but since then and decades later, it has evolved into what it is today. The most popular and fiercest combat sport that has even surpassed boxing.
One such star during the company’s earliest days was Mark Kerr who was also known as the smashing machine, and it is now that we learn of his story in and out of the ring as superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson brings him to life on the silver screen in director Benny Safdie’s new sport drama titled appropriately enough THE SMASHING MACHINE. Also starring Academy Award nominee Emily Blunt, new key art and trailer are now live courtesy of A24 Studios so scroll below to check out The Rock like you’ve never seen him before!
The story of legendary mixed martial arts & UFC fighter Mark Kerr.
STARRING: Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten, Oleksandr Usyk
WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY: Benny Safdie

When you watch a live UFC event or any other sport combat organization, it’s hard to fathom what happens behind the scenes as fighters deal with pain, both physically and emotionally, and the dangers that go along with getting into The Octagon. It’s weird to think that they were trying to ban the UFC at first but now it’s mainstream and such an important part of society as we know it today, so this movie looks to uncover those early years, and Johnson looks sensational as well as Blunt wo always delivers. This looks to capture the Rocky vibes albeit a much more tragic one so tears of manliness will probably be present upon viewing.
