Norwegian bodybuilding pro turned action star Daniel Stisen is full speed ahead in the action genre and the massive action star is giving liberty and death in his latest all-out battle pic. Stisen erupted on the scene with his big debut in the post-apocalyptic action pic Last Man Down and has since followed up that impressive freshman effort with the adrenaline laced project like The Siege. Simply put, if you are a fan of old school, throwback, larger than life action, then Stisen is keeping the glory days of the 80’s and 90’s alive.
Epic Pictures has just unleashed the trailer for Stisen’s upcoming actioner Stand Your Ground where he plays a former Navy SEAL who goes to war with those that are decimating the place he calls home. Just like the aforementioned films in Stisen’s film arsenal, expect stripped down, down and dirty, gritty action with a one-man war taking down a legion of black clad mercs in the dead of night, with a mini gun no less. Give the hero a proper killing machine of a weapon like a mini gun and you don’t have to ask me twice to watch the movie. It also delves deeply into what’s right and wrong involving the stand your ground law which says one can use deadly force to defend themselves and their home while the criminals are inside the house.

Stisen stars as Jack Johnson, a former Special Forces operative who returns home with his pregnant wife (Roxi Kravitz), only to face a tragic attack, spearheaded by local crime lord Bastion (Peter Stormare), leads to her murder. When Jack kills one of the assailants in rage, just outside their home, he is imprisoned for six years. Upon release, he discovers the culprits were sons of Bastion. Seeking vengeance, Jack targets Bastion’s eldest son, Leon (Michael Billington), who masterminded the attack.
Using the Stand Your Ground law, Jack lures Leon into a trap, leaving him comatose. Bastion retaliates, sending assassins, but Jack, fortified in his home, fights them off. Molly (Isobel Laidler), Bastion’s conflicted daughter, and town Sheriff, Dwayne (Patrick Regis), confront her father, who refuses to stop, leading to an explosive final showdown in which Jack confronts both his enemies and his own humanity.
The film boasts a solid genre cast that includes Michael Bay favorite Peter Stormare along with Adam Basil, Patrick Regis, Akie Kotabe, Roxi Kravitz, and Isobel Laidler and the one and only Eric Roberts. Stand Your Ground was directed by Fansu Njie, who also helmed Stisen’s Last Man Down. Craig Walser (Rambo Last Blood) penned the script, and the film was produced by Highfield Grange Studios and Daniel Stisen Productions.
Discussing Stand Your Ground, director Fansu Njie notes, “The story begins with a brutal crime the system won’t touch—and escalates from 0 to 100, ending in a full-blown war no one sees coming.”
Daniel Stisen adds, “It’s a classic American revenge action film grounded in the Stand Your Ground laws – about defending your family, your home, and your freedom from a crime lord, sparking an all-out war. I had a really fun time working with the stunt team making the action scenes, which is always fun. It makes me feel like a young boy again.”
“We’re thrilled to bring ‘Stand Your Ground’ to North American audiences,” concludes Epic Pictures CEO, Patrick Ewald. “With Fansu Njie’s sharp direction and a breakout performance by Daniel Stisen – cementing his place as one of the next great action stars – alongside the legendary Peter Stormare, this is a high-octane thrill ride audiences won’t want to miss.”
I’ve become a huge fan of Stisen and the Schwarzenegger vibes he’s pumping into his action movies. Clearly those will make comparisons, but I believe that Stisen is generating his own path and executing his own machismo and bravado into his roles. I enjoyed both Last Man Down and The Siege and you can read my approval of both films below!
