Hong Kong Action Cinema is on fire this week as with the new trailer for the Wuxia period actioner Blades of the Guardians with Jet Li has hit, so now has one for the modern crime thriller Ultimate Revenge. Just like the former, the latter has a tier one cast including Hong Kong cinema staples Ray Liu (The Prosecutor with Donnie Yen), Alex Fong (Under Current, Angel) and Andy On (Hunt the Wicked) who has absolutely turned on beast mode in recent years dishing out a bevy of blistering action films. There’s a war brewing between an elite team of cops and a team of thieves and the streets are about to run red with blood as the bullets will fly. Check out the new footage below!
Official Synopsis: In the bustling Yau Tsim Mong district, a violent crime wave is sweeping the streets. One by one, high-end jewelry shops are smashed and looted by a ruthless gang with nothing to lose. An elite police unit is assigned to shut them down and restore order. But in a city where loyalty is uncertain and danger lurks around every corner, bringing these criminals to justice will be far from easy. The streets are hot, the stakes are high, and the battle for Hong Kong has just begun.
Asian action has always been second to none when it comes to death defying action sequences and insane fight chorography and Ultimate Revenge looks to employ both for serious hardcore fans who love their action to the extreme. Andy On is one of the most underrated stars of international action and his name deserves to be on the mouths of any serious fan. The action looks red hot, and the style is definitely retro 80’s awesome when these films ruled both China and the U.S.
Terry Ng Ka-Wai, who brought us Hybrid Storm and Crypto Storm, writes and directs with the supporting cast including Louis Cheung (Shock Wave) and Chin Kar-lok (Golden Job). All the cast members are bangers in action so expect some second to none adrenaline infused action with this one.
