The good news is that action fans will be able to watch Jason Statham kick more ass in a David Ayer film when A Working Man hits theaters next month. The bad news is that after that, we will have to wait over ten months for The Stath to assault theaters again as Lionsgate has targeted a January theatrical launch for his next actioner Mutiny.
The announcement comes via Deadline who also states that the film will open officially on January 9th, 2026, which sees the Statham led action film the sole movie opening that weekend. A good move from a financial standpoint as Statham’s The Beekeeper annihilated the box office competition when it debuted in January of last year.
Mutiny is helmed by Jean-François Richet who also directed the solid Gerard Butler action pic Plane and sees Statham starring as Cole Reed “who after seeing his billionaire industrialist boss murdered in front of him, is set up to take the fall for the crime — leaving him on the run as he works to uncover an international conspiracy.” God have mercy for everyone after Reed because he definitely won’t as countless bones will be broken before the end credits roll. Statham also served as a producer on the flick.
Annabelle Wallis and Roland Møller also star in the movie which was written by Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis.
I’m all for Statham’s action films to hit every January if it means solid ticket sales for the action star and he has been crushing it as of late with the films and the action design that encompasses them.
