UPDATE: In preparation of tomorrow’s highly, and I do mean HIGHLY, anticipated of our first look at James Gunn’s Superman, DC Studios has just dropped a short little tease of what to expect from tomorrow’s full teaser trailer. Remember back in the day when trailers just dropped and there was usually only one maybe two at the most for a film before it hit. Now we get teasers for the teasers. Hilarious. Anyway, I digress. Also, we now know that the teaser will drop at exactly 6 AM PT which is 9 AM Eastern so I’m sure all the haters are getting ready to troll.
A new interview with Gunn for has also gone live which is essentially a mission statement from Gunn on what to expect. Check both out below!
“Yeah, it was about really putting us in the middle of the action from the beginning. And there’s a lot of these things in this movie now that I’ve been making it for over a year that I think of as normal. But now when you bring it up, I go, ‘Oh yeah, that’s pretty unusual,’” Gunn stated to ComicBook
He added: “We just start in the middle of the action. Superman already exists. Lois and Clark already know each other. Lex hates Superman’s guts from the beginning, although they don’t know each other personally. So we start right in the middle of the action. It takes place over a short amount of time.”
I love that we aren’t getting yet another origin story because let’s be frank, if you don’t know how the man became the Man of Steel, maybe this isn’t for you. Gunn also said that they took a Top Gun: Maverick approach for the flying sequences and used drones to full capture the thrill of Superman soaring at Mach plus speeds. Sounds cool as hell so bring on tomorrow!
Original Post: James Gun and his new DC Studios is banking on the filmmaker’s upcoming Superman starring the newest Man of Steel David Corenswet. The first official film from the new studio, this movie will essentially make or break Gunn and co-partner Darren Sarafin as many are looking to criticize every second of the trailer that is now set to hit this Thursday. Many haven’t been kind to any of the behind the scenes images released, especially Corenswet in full Superman attire, so this Thursday will give us our first glimpse of whether to get excited or nervous for real.
New key art has dropped for Superman telling us to “Look Up” with Corenswet taking flight and you can see the new poster below! I’m sure many will have an opinion on this one just like everything else. Personally, I like it so you might have to sue me. It’s definitely better than the image we got of Superman putting his boot on that we got earlier this year.

There’s no denying that Superman has a stacked cast and looks to fully put pedal to metal when it comes to launching this new and latest DC universe. Sure, the animated Creature Commandos has been getting positive buzz since the first episodes have dropped while the Christopher Reeve Documentary Super/Man and the Max series The Penguin with Colin Farrel have garnered acclaim as well but there’s no denying that Superman is it. I’m a fan of what Zack Snyder did with the now defunct DCEU even with all the problems behind the scenes and the fanboy hate and I do wish it would have continued, and we would have seen the completion of Snyder’s full vision for the Justice League. That won’t happen so hopefully they get it right with this and we can enjoy a new cavalcade of DC movies and series. Come Thursday, the trolls will be out in full force and I’m sure the negativity will run rampant as this is what happens anymore with anything fandom but I’m staying optimistic and that Gun, who hits a grand slam with the MCU’s Guardians of the Universe, won’t let us down.
Aside from Corenswet starring as Clark Kent/Superman, he is joined in the cast by Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Ms. Maisel) as the newest Lois Lane. Nathan Fillion (Firefly, The Rookie) finally gets to play Guy Gardner/Green Lantern as many have been lobbying for him for years. Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus) will soar as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) is Mister Terrific; Anthony Carrigan (Barry) is Metamorpho; María Gabriela de Faría (Deadly Class) plays The Engineer, who is a member of The Authority; Sara Sampaio (At Midnight) as Eve Teschmacher; Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones) is the latest Jimmy Olsen; Wendell Pierce (The Wire) takes over as Perry White from Laurence Fishburne in the Snyderverse; Neva Howell (Logan Lucky) is Martha Kent; Pruitt Taylor-Vince (The Walking Dead) is Jonathan Kent; and Nicholas Hoult (The Great) rounds out the stellar cast as the evil Lex Luthor.
The online social campaign has started as Gunn and DC Studios have launched a teaser for the trailer as well as a motion poster of the above one sheet. Check them both out below!
The above motion poster does contain music which may give us the first taste of what John Murphy’s score will sound like. he’s got massive shoes to fill with having to deliver something that is hopefully half as good as John William’s iconic score as well as Hans Zimmer’s which I love as well. Both give me chills every time I hear them, so I really want to feel that again with Murphy’s take on it. Fingers crossed. The music played in the motion poster definitely has the essence of Williams’ score.
We have a few days to wait but Thursday cannot come fast enough. Luckily, I’m off that day so will be waiting to post and hopefully go Trailer Tactical for it on The Action Fix Podcast. I can’t remember a time when so many were waiting with batted breath for just a trailer to hit. It’s almost time to break into a run, rip off those button-down shirts and display the iconic S because he’s coming! Like it or not.
Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11th, 2025!
