The Terminator and Reacher are going to bust some heads for Christmas, and we will be all thankful for it. It does appear that action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger has a new gig as Santa Clause as he plays Jolly St. Nick in the new holiday themed action pic The Man with the Bag. Someone has stolen Santa’s toys, and he’s pissed so what’s a jolly old elf to do. Well, enlist none other than Reacher AKA Alan Ritchson who plays a theif who gets swept up in this Christmas Caper. It seems that with recent output like Violent Night, The Christmas Chronicles and most recently Red One, a tough as nails Santa is hot right now and who better than to lay the smack down then The Governator himself! God help the fools who stole children’s toys. I mean come on, really, how low can you go?
Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages, A Walk to Remember) is directing the pic that is now in production and the film hails from Amazon MGM Studios. Schwarzenegger posted an image of himself in full Santa dress up along with Ritchson to commemorate the start of production. Scroll below to check it out.
The Terminator stated on the post, Arnold posts on his official Instagram, “Santa Claus is coming to town! It is fantastic to be shooting The Man with the Bag with @alanritchson. Our director @adamshankman is one of the funniest directors I’ve worked with, New York City is an amazing host, working with @amazonmgmstudios is a joy, and I can’t wait to share all of this Christmas cheer with each and every one of you.”
This isn’t the first time that Arnie has gotten into the holiday swing of things as he also starred along with Sinbad in the nefarious Jingle All the Way which happens to be a favorite in my family. I said my family not me specifically. I watch it to make my girls happy but most of it is cringeworthy.
Along with this project, Ritchson also has the third season of Reacher hitting Amazon next year and us also starring along with Prey’s Amber Midthunder in the upcoming action pic Painter. Painter will focus on Midthunder who is “a young woman, trained from a young age, who must employ every skill in her arsenal to rescue her father after he is kidnapped.” John Wick scribe Derek Kolstad is writing, and former stuntman Garrett Warren is helming. Warren who is best known for putting his body on the line in such films as Logan, Avatar, Alita: Battle Angel, and the recent reimagining of Road House.
