Superman is back and so is The Action Fix Podcast and we went live on Thursday morning for 1st reactions to the teaser for James Gunn’s Superman! Love it or hate it, I’m sure you have your opinions, and we take flight and break down the latest theatrical incarnation of The Man of Steel!
Spoiler Alert! I loved it. It was like Gunn was bringing it full circle back to Reeve. The teaser felt like a colorful, hopeful Silver Age DC comic book come to life and Krypto’s entrance was spot on and brilliant. The guitar riff tribute with a hint of John Williams gave me goosebumps on my goosebumps and this shows that if the world ever needed to Superman, it’s now.

Also starring in Gunn’s rebranding of the Man of Steel are Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as The Green Lantern, Nicolas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Wendell Pierce who was last but not least cast as Perry White.
The new uniform is rife with controversy right now with many hating it, but I think it looks like it definitely pays homage to the iconic Max Fleischer cartoons from the 40’s and the “S” certainly invokes Kingdom Come Superman as well. This is only the first teaser, and it is that…a teaser, but I also feel that Gunn is merging Richard Donner’s vision with that of Snyder’s, and it pops with color, visuals and action.
Teaser Synopsis: Follows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way in a world that views this as old-fashioned.
