Over the past few weeks, action star and icon Scott Adkins has been teasing a big Netflix project that he is set to work on. Today, official confirmation came down as Adkins is set to star in director Joe Carnahan’s upcoming Netflix crime thriller RIP! For his second Netflix film, the first being the vampire action horror pic Day Shift, Adkins will be in select company once again as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to headline the film.
Per Deadline that launched the news, RIP will focus on “a team of Miami cops whose trust begins to fray when they discover millions in cash in a derelict stash house. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question – including who they can rely on.” Additional cast members include Sasha Calle (The Flash), Teyana Taylor, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Nestor Carbonell. Damon and Affleck are also producing via their newly founded Actors Equity artist led studio.
It is being reported that Adkins has landed the role of the brother of Ben Affleck’s character which is a home run for the star who has risen to the top of the action genre.
This is big news for fans as Adkins has been deserving of starring in a high-profile film with all that he has done for the action genre in genre. Adkins has also been seen in the huge blockbuster pics Expendables 2, Zero Dark Thirty, John Wick: Chapter 4 with Keanu Reeves as well as most recently with Dave Bautista in The Killer’s Game. Adkins has been a staple in the industry ever since breaking onto the action scene all the way back in 2003 with Special Forces and has since starred in the Undisputed franchise and other genre flicks like Avengement and most recently Take Cover.
Carnahan is another solid action film helmer having delivered some gritty films like Fury, End of Watch, Cop Shop and The A-Team remake. With Carnahan at the helm, fans can expect heavy drama, taut suspense and visceral action to compliment the stars involved.
