We have some acquisition news to report today, and it involves the Louis Mandylor helmed WWII action film Death March which sees action star Scott Adkins starring as a POW forced to fight to the death by his Japanese captors in brutal Bloodsport style matches has recently been acquired by the fine folks at Well Go USA. The script was penned by Marc Clebanoff from an idea that was conceived by Adkins and the film promises to contain plenty of the action star’s signature action design. Mandylor, an action star in his own right and co-star of Adkins in the Debt Collector films, is no stranger to directing as he recently put out the rousing WWII war film 3 Days in Malay a few years ago.
To go along with the acquisition announcement, an updated synopsis has been revealed along with a brand-new pic of Adkins brandishing a sword as he readies to do battle. Scroll below to view both!

A British airman washes ashore after being ejected from his plane and becomes a prisoner in a Japanese-run POW camp. While waiting to join the infamous Bataan death march, the airman is tortured by the camp commander and is forced to fight for his life against an array of skilled Japanese warriors. Adkins portrays the airman. Veteran actor Peter Shinkoda (I, Robot, Daredevil) plays the camp commander. (Per Deadline)
Death March recently wrapped location filming in The Philippines and was shot in the Subic Bay and Bataan region. The film boasts a sensational international ensemble cast including Michael Copon (As Good as Dead, Power Rangers: Time Force), Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (3 Days in Malay, The Equalizer 2), Michael Rene Walton (Reptile), Gary Cairns (The Channel, Justified), Action icon Sho Kosugi’s son Shane Kosugi (Nine Deaths of the Ninja), Masanori Mimoto (Baby Assassins, Hydra) and Gabbi Garcia (Unbreak My Heart).
Besides being a full throttle blood and knuckles action pic, Death March is also based on the true story of “the most notorious in WWII history, a forced march of some 60,000 Filipino and 15,000 U.S. prisoners of war following the Japanese victory at the Battle of Bataan. It has been reported that 20,000 men died during the 65-mile trek to Camp O’Donnell and thousands more died on arrival at their destination.” This means that there will be a lot of heavy-handed drama to accompany the bone breaking action sequences to immerse the audience in a true war film experience. Action films these days are trying to bring high octane action that means something and involves characters that viewers will become invested in, and this film sounds like it will fit perfectly in with that agenda.
“Scott’s prowess as an actor and martial artist is evident in every film he touches, and we are especially excited that [the Mandylor-directed] ‘Death March’ allows him the freedom to really showcase his considerable talent,” Brennan, director of acquisitions and production at Well Go USA stated. Lane also will serve as an executive producer along with Doris Pfardrescher for Well Go USA.
Aside from this film, which is not on Adkins or Mandylor’s IMDb pages, Mandylor also has the action films Operation Blood Hunt (starring himself along with Jonathon Rhys Myers and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson) and Smokers to add to his directing arsenal. Adkins will, of course, also be seen in September’s The Killer’s Game with Dave Bautista as well as Take Cover, the aforementioned Skyline: Warpath with Iko Uwais, and Diablo which reunites him with Marko Zaror. If that wasn’t enough, Adkins is still attached to go one on one with martial arts action star Alain Moussi in the final installment of director Dimitri Logothetis’ Kickboxer reboot franchise Kickboxer: Armageddon which just recently commenced a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.
There have been a few more images released of Adkins from the film, and you can view all of them in the gallery below!
