It’s no secret that with a cast like this and a director like this, that this is one action movie I’ve been waiting for in terms of just viewing first look footage. Dave Bautista adds another notch to his action film arsenal with director J.J. Perry’s newest action gauntlet of a film called The Killer’s Game. From Scott Adkins to Marko Zaror to 90’s action star Daniel Bernhardt who is experiencing a resurgence, this one has the makings of being one of the best action pics of 2024 with a tier one action cast and Bautista is in full on beast mode here as he runs the gauntlet with ferocious firepower, blistering fisticuffs and a little dark humor to spice things up.
Lionsgate has unveiled the new trailer today so in the immortal words of Schwarzenegger in Conan the Destroyer...“Enough Talk!” Let the visuals drop your jaw in the new trailer below!
In the new action-comedy THE KILLER’S GAME, when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also targets his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late.

Director and stunt performer J.J. Perry (John Wick: Chapter 2, The Fate of the Furious, The Rundown) directs from a script by Rand Ravich and James Coyne based on Jay R. Bonansinga’s book.
Dave Bautista leads the cast alongside Sofia Boutella (Atomic Blonde, Hotel Artemis, Argylle), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, White Chicks), Scott Adkins (John Wick: Chapter 4, Dayshift, Avengement), with Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Thunder Force, Westworld), and Ben Kingsley (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Sexy Beast, Schindler’s List).

The Killer’s Game is going to scratch the action itch and certainly be a hyper-violent R-rated actioner which just may be Bautista’s John Wick judging from the looks of the stylish look and action set pieces the trailer teases. The assassins sent in to try and take Bautista’s character out is a squadron of action film icons including Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror, and Daniel Bernhardt so adrenaline junkies of cinema like me will have much cause for celebration when this one hits. Throw in a stellar supporting cast that includes the MCU’s Pom Klementieff, Terry Crews, Rebel Moon’s Sofia Boutella, and Sir Ben Kingsley himself and this one has blood red gold written all over it.
J.J. Perry is a wizard at crafting elite action design in movies and he is another prime example that stunt professionals who cut their teeth in the stunt industry for years are making the best action directors putting content out there for the masses. His directorial debut, Day Shift with Jamie Foxx, was a solid intro for the maestro as he created a unique take on the tried-and-true vampire subgenre combined with hyper-kinetic fight action.
The action looks full tilt boogie and Bautista is all in here delivering savage execution in the film’s adrenaline and jaw dropping action choreography that looks inventive, brutal and downright barbaric and with Perry at the helm, you just know that he’s going to give this sensational cast their chance to shine when the time comes to deliver the savage science.
