Fans of actress Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, Bring it On, Nashville) will find much cause for celebration as the genre favorite returns with an all-new thriller from Lionsgate titled Amber Alert. Panettiere stars as an ordinary woman thrust into an extraordinary and very dangerous situation when she and a fellow upstanding citizen played by Tyler James Williams (Abbott Elementary, Everybody Hates Chris) discover that the car they are following in fact contains a kidnapped girl. With no regard for their safety, the two play a lethal cat and mouse game with the abductor in order to save the girl in one of this year’s most pulse pounding thrillers. An ordinary rideshare becomes a high-stakes game of cat and mouse when Jaq (Hayden Panettiere) and Shane (Tyler James Williams) receive an alert of a child abduction on their phones. Quickly realizing they are behind a car that matches the description of the kidnapper’s, Jaq and Shane desperately race against time to save the child’s life.
Kerry Bellessa helms the pic from a script she also wrote with Summer Bellessa producing and the trailer certainly delivers the required results with a ripped from the headlines feel to it infused with heart stopping and taut thrills of everyday people becoming heroes.
Being a parent, this subject matter hits close to home and will definitely initiate a sweaty palm inducing watch. As thrillers go, this one isa certainly a standout and original take on abduction movies and Panettiere is always a welcome sight whether it’s movies or television.
