This is the way! Big news for Star Wars geeks (yes, I’m one) as it has just been announced that a big screen adaptation of the hit Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian is in the works. Bigger news yet, Jon Favreau, who created the series and helmed various eps, is set to direct the movie which is tentatively being titled The Mandalorian and Grogu.
To celebrate the big news, there has been a new teaser image of both characters in action flying away as a ship is destroyed in the distance. You can it view below!

The movie will go into production later this year with Favreau also producing along with longtime collaborators Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau said in an official statement. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm added.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is the first of several projects that Lucasfilm is developing. Other potential projects are films that will be helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni. A second season of Ahsoka is another Star Wars series that is currently in the works as well.
Plot details are too secret right now, but it’s a safe bet that the theatrical movie will deal with events after the third season of The Mandalorian. Lock n load right here and stay tuned for more Intel to follow!
