With no end to the writer’s strike in set, many film studios are scrambling to figure out how this will effect future releases. Amidst the chaos, numerous movies are being delayed with some being over a tear from initial release dates.
Disney and Marvel Studios have announced a host of delays and reschedules due to the strike and you can view the laundry list of backlogged films below. Enjoy.
First up, we have the wonderful delays for Phase IV & V of the MCU:
- The Marvels – November 10, 2023
- Deadpool 3 – May 3, 2024 (previously November 8, 2024)
- Captain America: Brave New World– July 26, 2024 (previously May 3, 2024)
- Thunderbolts – December 20, 2024 (previously July 26, 2024)
- Blade – February 14, 2025 (previously September 6, 2024) I really think they should just nix this one already.
- Fantastic Four – May 2, 2025 (previously February 14, 2025)
- Avengers: The Kang Dynasty – May 1, 2026 (previously May 2, 2025)
- Avengers: Secret Wars – May 7, 2027 (previously May 1, 2026)
To go along with all those, Disney and 20th Century Films have announced that the upcoming Alien movie, which is being helmed by director Fede Álvarez will now release on August 16, 2024. That initial release date was previously being held for a mystery Disney film, so the new Alien movie has secured that spot.
The new Alien movie is a mystery but we do have a synopsis for it below:
“a group of young people on a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
Personally, I would love to see Colonial Marines battle it out with the Xenomorphs but I guess seeing young one getting slaughtered by them is the flavor of the day.
Disney has also shuffled the Star Wars project with Daisy Ridyset to return which was scheduled for December 19, 2025 but will now hit on May 22, 2026, but in a surprise announcement, they have also said that another Star Wars mystery movie will be launched soon after on December 18, 2026!
