Once again, we have said news to report today as another action legend has passed away. Treat Williams, who has starred in a multitude of projects spanning all genres, was killed in a motorcycle crash yesterday according to reports.
Barry McPherson of APA, who was Williams’ agent, confirmed his death in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Earlier, he was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off”.

Williams was one of those classic character actors who transcended all genres but, of course, he will always be endeared to action fans everywhere for taking over the role of The Substitute from Tom Berenger in three top notch DTV sequels to other flicks like The Phantom, Deep Rising, and one of my personal 80’s favorites Dead Heat.
Just like Ray Stevenson, this one hits hard as I grew up watching Williams and it will always be his role in The Substitute movies that will always stick out for me. In three subsequent films, Williams played former mercenary turned undercover teacher Karl Thomason who infiltrated certain educational institutions to uncover corruption and bad doings. Williams made the role his own and excelled at the franchise’s many hand to hand combat sequences. He was the kind of talent that was a solid actor all around so being an action star was just icing on the cake.
Our thoughts and prayers here at Action-Flix go out to his family and dearest friends. Again…gone too soon…
