Is it bad that I have literally no desire to watch this movie. After watching the trailer for DC Studios Blue Beetle, I think I have a little more desire but still not too much to write home about. Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña stars in the live action adaptation of the comic book superhero and sine of the set pieces do look fun so I’ll give it a shot. Check it out below!

Official Synopsis:

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it,” reads the movie’s synopsis. “As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.

Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) helms the pic which also stars Susan Sarandon, Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows), Brazilian star Bruna Marquezine (Breaking Through) as Penny, and Belissa Escobedo (Sex Appeal, Hocus Pocus 2) as Milagro Reyes, George Lopez (The Spy Next Door) as Uncle Rudy, Adrianna Barraza (Babel) as Nana, Elpidia Carrillo (Predator) as Rocio, and Damián Alcázar (Narcos) as Alberto.

It’ll be interesting to see how this one is received after Shazam! Fury of the Gods disappointment at the box office. Blue Beetle isn’t exactly a hot property but the actual and CGI dies look intense and supersonic. This might be a one and done unless it makes bank on opening weekend.
