The new trailer is out for Ben Affleck’s newest cop thriller HYPNOTIC and it comes from celebrated filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. The man behind such genre hits as El Mariachi, Desperado and most recently, the criminally underrated, Alita: Battle Angel finally gets to bring his mind blowing thriller that he wrote over twenty years ago to the big screen. He’s got heavy ammunition with Academy Award winning actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck for a tale of a cop’s desperate search for his daughter.

Official Synopsis:

Hypnotic centers on a detective (Affleck) who finds himself spiraling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending crimes mysteriously connected to his missing daughter. Aided by a gifted psychic (Alice Braga), he is pursued by a lethal specter (William Fichtner) who he believes holds the key to finding his daughter.

This definitely looks like a different kind of suspense thriller and Rodriguez looks to be pulling out all the stops with this one. Affleck’s time as Batman May be up after this summer’s The Flash, but I think he’ll be ok with what he does in the future.

The movie screened a work in progress print at the recent SXSW, and audiences wanted more of what they saw so that bodes well for the film.

Hypnotic hits theaters on May 12th!
