Sylvester Stallone is currently doing press for his new Paramount Plus series Tulsa King but during it, the Hollywood icon was able to shed some light on both the futures of his famous characters Rocky and Rambo. Let’s just say that the fan base won’t be terribly happy with any of his answers concerning his most beloved movie personas.
In regards to Rocky, which we all know that Sly has been trying to get the rights back, Stallone was pretty adamant about it not happening.
No. It’s never gonna happen. It was a deal that was done unbeknownst to me by people that I thought were close to me, and they basically gave away whatever rights I would have had. At the time, I was so excited to be working and I didn’t understand this is a business. Who knew Rocky would go on for another 45 years? I’ve never used one [line of dialogue] from anyone else – and the irony is that I don’t own any of it. The people who have done literally nothing control it,” Stallone stated.
Stallone than added about the aspect of doing a Drago film. “This is a classic case of them going around and trying to continually cherry-pick aspects of Rocky without even asking me if I want to join in. I’m not an executive producer on the Creed movies.”
In regards to Rambo, Stallone was more positive that we’ll see the action hero again although not how you think.
I think it’s going to happen. I wanted to do it like a Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam, where you drop young Rambo in there, and he’s this outgoing guy, football captain, and then you see why he becomes Rambo. But what they want to do is a modern-day story where I pass the torch. That’s getting close.”
So just like Stallone passing the torch to Jason Statham in the next Expendables entry, we will see a newer, younger actor take on Rambo. I can hear the screams of die hard fans as we speak. Statham won’t be doing the character though of Barney Ross though as he has his own but to see someone else portray Rambo will be a tough pill to swallow. Let’s hope they do it Justice with the love and respect that the character deserves.
Needless to say, I’ll keep you updated on what transpires in the future with both Rocky and Rambo as I’ve been there since the beginning with both and adore both of them. Keep it locked and loaded right here for more details to come as we are your destination for everything action in 2022 and beyond!
