Patrick Hughes, the director of The Hitman’s Bodyguard films and Expendables 3, has found his next project to direct and it sounds killer. According to Variety, the filmmaker has enlisted for a new action-sci/fi film called awesomely enough War Machine. Lionsgate is handling the film for its release.
Per Variety: Hughes will write and direct “War Machine,” an action/sci-fi film about the final recruits of a grueling special ops boot camp who encounter a deadly force from beyond this world.

Hughes is becoming a staple at Lionsgate and will also have the new action/comedy The Man from Toronto which stars Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson coming out next year.
“Patrick is simply one of the best action directors working today, but what sets his movies apart is his focus on characters that cut through the mayhem. He came to us with a tremendous original idea and we’re thrilled to be shepherding it with Patrick in the driver’s seat,” Erin Westerman, who is president of Lionsgate production said on Tuesday.
