For those of you who were intrigued by Sylvester Stallone’s dark take on the superhero genre Samaritan will have to wait even longer as United Artists have officially announced that the film will now see a theater launch date of August 26th, 2022.
Samaritan was supposed to hit this past June but COVID concerns forced the studio to shelve the film with no date announced. Now the studio is banking that things will have calmed down by next August so the movie can see a proper theatrical release.
In Samaritan, a young boy learns that a superhero (Sylvester Stallone) who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty years ago may in fact still be around.
Stallone plays the title role of Stanley Kominski who is “a sanitation worker trying to live a normal life while harboring a deep secret”.
The cast includes Martin Starr, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, Moises Arias, Jared Odrick, Michael Aaron Milligan, and Natacha Karam with Overlord helmer Julius Avery directing.
Don’t expect a trailer anytime soon as United Artists will probably strike with one when the date gets closer.
