ESCAPE: Director Pedring A. Lopez’s High-Octane English language Debut Action-Thriller Set to Film Next Year!

Filipino director Pedring A. Lopez is certainly climbing the ladder of success in the action cinmea world with films like Nialang/The Entity and the crowd pleasing action flick Maria being the two standouts thus far. The latter, which tells the tale of a retired assassin who must polish off her lethal skills once again when her family is attacked, premiered on Netflix this year and has received rave reviews. Now, Lopez is already thinking of the future as he is planning to direct his English language debut with the thriller named Escape. Screen Anarchy and Mike Leeder brought the word of the film on November 27th which Lopez shared on social media.

The Official Synopsis Per SA:

When a teenager in the Philippines goes missing, his mother calls upon former Black Ops soldier John Craig, a man known to go above and beyond the law to get the job done.

As the teenagers trial date approaches, John and his team must plan the ultimate escape, not only from the rising tensions in Manilla but also from the demons of John’s past.

The film is set to roll in front of the cameras in the Philippines starting early 2020 with  Scott Rosenfelt and Michael McDermott attached to produce.

Escape is being produced via MAM Holdings which recently started a new production branch of the company which promises to make “high impact, high budget action thrillers.” Escape is one of three titles that Lopez is attached to direct and will bring a foreign action flavor vibe to North American films.

Casting news as well as other info is still pending on the project but expect all that to change in the upcoming months. Lopez has a variety of other film mand TV projects in the works which include the TV series Sellblock and AOC: Asian Organized Crime as well as the zombie action-thriller Noriko which he will produce alongside Mike Leeder with  Arne Venema attached to helm.

It’s also important to mention that Lopez is also working on a follow up to Maria which will feature the return of the origibal film’s star Christine Reyes.
