I was hyped when the teaser for director Travis Knight’s upcoming Masters of the Universe dropped after the project being in developmental hell for years. The visuals, the look and the characters all came to life as He-Man battles to reclaim his kingdom and defeat the villainous Skeletor. Nicholas Galitzine looked spot on as the epic hero and the rest of the cast looked cartoon and toy accurate to go along with the eye-popping visuals and kinetic action set pieces. I was on board from the get-go and when Galitzine roared the iconic line, “I have the power,” and then something happened today.
Amazon MGM dropped the second and more extended trailer for Masters of the Universe and with it, we were treated to even more visual splendor, sword swing battle action and a breathtaking and powerful story arc of Price Adam returning to Eternia after being exiled to Earth for safety by his parents. Jared Leto’s Skeletor looks and sounds menacingly authentic. Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms brings the Oscar caliber gravitas and seeing Cringer in action reunited me with my ten-year-old self. But enough of the talkie, talkie, it’s time to wield the power of the sword and stand for what’s right with the second trailer for Masters of the Universe!
In MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, Director Travis Knight brings the legendary franchise back to the big screen in this epic live-action adventure. After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.

Bumblebee director Travis Knight helms the first live action version of Masters of Universe in almost forty years, and he directs from a screenplay by Chris Butler. The script was based on earlier versions by Dave Callaham and directors Aaron and Adam Nee when they were attached to the project. Alex Litvak and Michael Finch are given story credit as well and we all know that this project has been in development hell for decades so seeing this first trailer is nothing short of amazing.
Galitzine stars along with Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, Jared Leto (Morbius) as the villainous Skeletor, Idris Elba (Luther) as Man-at-Arms (who is also known as Duncan), GLOW’s Alison Brie as Skeletor’s second-in-command Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Captain America: Brave New World) as Malcolm (a.k.a. Fisto), Sam C. Wilson (Dodger) as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson (Game of Thrones) as Goat Man, Kojo Attah (The Beekeeper) as Tri-Klops, and James Purefoy (A Knight’s Tale) and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) who are playing He-Man’s parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena.

I could go on about this rad new teaser look, but I thought I’d let the video below do it for me. With the release of the new trailer today, I was able to my buddy J-Man and the gang for an extended trailer reaction episode of his YouTube show, and we go all in on the new footage. We serve up what he loved, what we liked and what we could maybe do without. Check out our in-depth trailer reaction down below!
