After an underwhelming initial teaser trailer and a genuine “you spent 10 million for a big game spot on that?” for the upcoming Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, Disney and Lucasfilm may look to right the ship as the first extended trailer has finally oozed a little Star Wars vibe. A much-needed vibe as well. Although the former did feature some cool action and an epic shot of old school AT-AT Walkers, the Super Bowl spot went for big game nostalgia, and it fumbled on the one-yard line. I mean, come on, half the audience for the lackluster 60th Super Bowl wasn’t even alive when the Budweiser Clydesdales were a thing. Anyway, I digress and now we have our biggest glimpse of hope as today we saw a trailer that for the newest film that looks to restore Star Wars as an event that has been sorely missed since the massive misfire of The Rise of Skywalker hit in 2019. Scroll below for the return of a galaxy far, far away and strap in because this is the way!
Official Synopsis:
A brand-new epic, action-packed trailer for “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” has arrived! The trailer and an all-new poster are now available to download and share. Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” opens exclusively in theatres May 22, 2026.
The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu also stars Sigourney Weaver and is produced by Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with music composed by Ludwig Göransson.

Jon Favreau returns to direct from a script penned by himself, new co-head of Lucasfilm Dave Filoni with George Lucas, of course, given Star Wars credit for creating the whole damn thing. Pedro Pascal, who pretty much is in everything as of late returns as Mando along with Hollywood icon Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’s Jeremy Allen White is also set to make a voiceover appearance as Rotta the Hutt who looks to put a bad ass name to The Hutts.
From the epic shot of X-Wings filling an illuminated red and orange sky to seeing an old friend in R2-D2, this all new two minute plus second trailer definitely made me feel a little more hopeful for the movie when it drops in May. Plus, who can’t help but go AWWW over Mando telling a feisty Grogu to stop playing with the controls like we saw in the series. The footage is loaded with the anticipated incredible visuals, and the action looks hot with Pascal’s Mando even emerging from fire to decimate some Stormtroopers. The movie has an incredible uphill battle to bring old and new fans back alike but speaking as someone who was there on opening day back in 1977, I am excited. I loved the series and even the divisive third season so here’s hoping the first Star Wars film to hit the big screen in seven years delivers something we haven’t been getting from the Disney+ shows.
