The wait is almost over as Amazon MGM has teased the trailer for the highly anticipated Masters of the Universe which sees star Nicholas Galitzine stepping into the live action shoes of He-Man which was last played all the way back in 1987 by an up-and-coming action icon known as Dolph Lundgren. Big shoes to fill indeed. The teaser does just that as it drips and oozes 80’s nostalgia with fleeting glimpses of the effects heavy reboot which looks amazing. Nothing like reminiscing about Saturday morning cartoons and a bowl of cereal to get us all excited. Scroll below for the first official footage with the extended trailer dropping online tomorrow!
Bumblebee director Travis Knight was tasked with the gargantuan task of bringing the latest live action version of He-Man to the big screen. The film follows “ten-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe.”

Galitzine stars along with Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, Jared Leto (Morbius) as the villainous Skeletor, Idris Elba (Luther) as Man-at-Arms (who is also known as Duncan), GLOW’s Alison Brie as Skeletor’s second-in-command Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Captain America: Brave New World) as Malcolm (a.k.a. Fisto), Sam C. Wilson (Dodger) as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson (Game of Thrones) as Goat Man, Kojo Attah (The Beekeeper) as Tri-Klops, and James Purefoy (A Knight’s Tale) and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) who are playing He-Man’s parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena.

The tease of the tease, yes this is where we are once again as we get teasers for trailers, is a rapid fire blink and you’ll miss it but we do get to see Galitzine and co-star Idris Elba in fleeting action along with Battle Cat before he transforms which is going to be…wait for it…LEGENDARY! Toxicity and negativity have surrounded this film as it has been in development hell for years, but I am on board and cannot wait to immerse myself into the extended look tomorrow. From what we got today, this is going to look worth the wait. The sword making an appearance is worth it alone as it is spot on.
