I’m sure there will be plenty of naysayers out there and this is just the first look at the upcoming visual feat that is also known as Masters of the Universe. You can’t please everyone but the inner seven year old in me got massive chills and this film looks like the He-Man adaptation we have been waiting for. From the look of Castle Grayskull to the uttering of the iconic line “I have the power,” director Travis Knight looks like he understood the assignment and this will be a summer movie event of major popcorn munching proportions. Scroll below and immerse yourself in the realm of Eternia!
Bumblebee director Travis Knight helms the first live action version of Masters of Universe in almost forty years, and he directs from a screenplay by Chris Butler. The script was based on earlier versions by Dave Callaham and directors Aaron and Adam Nee when they were attached to the project. Alex Litvak and Michael Finch are given story credit as well and we all know that this project has been in development hell for decades so seeing this first trailer is nothing short of amazing.
Masters of the Universe follows ten-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe.

The newly released poster featuring He-Man unsheathe his powerful sword as Skeletor looks on in the background is just plain bad ass. It’s the perfect image to get fans, old and new, excited and this is the type of popcorn summer movie adventure, and this is why we still go to see movies on the biggest screens available immersed in the best sound there is. The movie looks to pay the upmost respect to the original source material while bringing into a new generation all at the same time and I cannot, CANNOT, wait to see Battle Cat in all his full glory.

Say what you will about Jared Leto as a person, but he looks cartoon ready perfect and even though we don’t hear him speak, I hope it does the character justice and pays homage to the 80’s while doing something new. Complaints have been made about the humor in the first looks as well as being on earth at first, but I feel we need to let Knight cook and he will deliver in what we all hope will be a franchise.
Galitzine stars along with Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, Jared Leto (Morbius) as the villainous Skeletor, Idris Elba (Luther) as Man-at-Arms (who is also known as Duncan), GLOW’s Alison Brie as Skeletor’s second-in-command Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Captain America: Brave New World) as Malcolm (a.k.a.
