UPDATE: Prime Video has unveiled a brief 16 second tease for the pirate fused actioner The Bluff. This is the times we live in and now we get teasers for trailers as well. Anyway, I digress as the footage does look intense and extreme and Priyanka Chopra Jonas looks bad ass as Bloody Mary with Karl Urban looking viciously stellar as the villain of the film. (ORIGINAL POST) You had me at Judge Dredd playing a pirate. That’s right boys and girls. Karl Urban’s next action fused project after his stint on The Boys has him playing a ruthless pirate and he’s ready to take on one hell of a femme fatale in Priyanka Chopra Jonas in Prime Video’s new action-adventure The Bluff. Chopra Jonas stars as a former renegade now retired but must take up arms when Urban and his merry band of cutthroats come calling. New images have surfaced showcasing the high-end action that awaits and while we wait for a trailer, check out the stills in the gallery below!
Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) thought she had escaped her violent past as a pirate, finding peace in the Cayman Islands with her loving husband T.H. (Ismael Cruz Cordova), their son Isaac (Vedanten Naidoo) and her sister-in-law Elizabeth (Safia Oakley-Green). But when her notorious former captain, Connor (Karl Urban), arrives seeking revenge, Ercell’s world is torn apart. Forced to confront the demons she’s tried to bury, Ercell is thrust back into a deadly game of secrets and survival. Armed with lethal swordsmanship, cunning traps, and a fierce will to protect those she loves, she wages a brutal war against Connor’s merciless crew. Ercell’s fight to save her family becomes a journey of redemption, as she reclaims her power and embraces the warrior she once was. Frank E. Flowers directs, and the supporting cast is no slouch also as Star Wars alum Temuera Morrison also features in the film as Quartermaster Lee. Ismael Cruz Córdova also stars as Ercell’s husband along with Safia Oakley-Green as her sister-in-law and Vedanten Naidoo as their son.
The Bluff doesn’t seem like it will skimp on the adult-oriented action as it is being described as scary, bloody and brutal. Urban plays Captain Connor who is the merciless leader of the crew that Chopra Jonas’ Bloody Mary used to be a part of. Oh, and the two used to be lovers so Ercell marrying someone else and having a child doesn’t sit well with Connor who makes it his life mission to burn Ercell’s world to the ground.
The Bluff promises to satisfy fans with visceral and brutal swordfights, stunts and violent choreography immersed in a savage and forgotten time in history. It’s been a while since we saw a good pirate flick, so I say bring it on and especially with this cast.
Expect a trailer to drop any day!
