It looks like I’m going to have to get another T-Shirt this year as Marvel Studios has unveiled Jon Bernthal’s brand new skull logo for 2026! The new skull will most assuredly make its debut when Bernthal takes on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Bernthal will also be sporting the new design when he delivers punishment during his one shot special that is set to debut on Disney+ sometime after the movie. Bernthal had been sporting a rather sleek look during his series run and now he is reborn yet again with a new symbol of punishment. Scroll below for the official reveal!

The new skull will also be featured on a variant cover for the upcoming ongoing Punisher comic book series and was done by Adam Ross. The ongoing series will be a continuation of the Marvel Red Band limited series which saw Frank being controlled by the Kingpin. Check out some of the other variant covers for issue #1 which hits the comic shops in February!

The synopsis for the new series reads: CRIME’S WORST NIGHTMARE IS BACK IN AN ALL-NEW ONGOING SERIES! As unflinching and uncompromising as ever- Frank Castle’s memory is damaged and he’s hunting for answers and criminals alike! He’ll get more than he bargained for of both when the notorious and bloodthirsty JIGSAW returns…with THE PUNISHER dead in his sights! RATED PARENTAL ADVISORY.
The new series will be written by Benjamin Percy and be drawn by José Luis Soares. Cover A for issue #1 was created by DAVID MARQUEZ.
“PUNISHER: RED BAND was a new beginning for Frank Castle—and an unrelenting assault,” Percy explained. “The book was polybagged, because it was a biohazard, dripping with blood. Now that you know we aren’t fooling around, we’re entering a new phase of storytelling that will serve both as a continuation of Red Band and a fresh start for new readers.
“I’m joined in the dark alleys and rusting warehouses of New York by José Luis on pencils and Oren Junior on inks,” he continued. “Jose is stretching his incredible art in a new direction, channeling all the grit and scars and shadows you’d expect from Frank’s cracked-window view of the world. You’ll be amazed and disturbed by the grounding detail and physical menace and brutal action he’s bringing to this story. And who better to cast as our villain—in a story about Frank picking up the broken, jagged pieces of himself—than one of the greatest Marvel baddies: Jigsaw. Get ready. This is gonna hurt.”
The Punisher one shot special starring Bernthal is classified right now in terms of plot, but the events of the Punisher one shot clearly take place after Frank escapes The Kingpin’s modified jail and navigates a New York City that has descended into chaos after the events of Daredevil: Born Again. The plot of the special presentation is top secret right now, but besides Bernthal, the cast includes Jason R. Moore returning as Frank’s military friend Curtis as well as Roe Rancell. There are also reports saying that a female actor has been cast in a crime boss roll which has fans saying that it could be the one and only Ma Gnucci who figured heavily in the “Welcome Back, Frank” storyline which was penned by Garth Ennis in 2000.

Bernthal’s Punisher is also ready for his massive close up on the big screen next July as he is also going to film scenes for Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Tom Hollands returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It has also been confirmed that MCU favorite Mark Ruffalo is also back as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Frank isn’t going to be as violent physically in the film as it is PG-13, but they are saying that his character isn’t any less violent. Fans have been complaining about this as well but if you know comics, then you know that Frank has used non-lethal tactics while teaming up with Spidey including rubber bullets and more traditional hand to hand combat so read a comic before you scream out things you don’t know.
Earlier reports claimed that Bernthal’s Punisher would be absent from Daredevil: Born Again season 2 as Marvel did come out and say so. That story may be misleading as some behind the scenes images surfaced afterwards showing Bernthal with some of the cast. The one-shot special is supposed to wrap up what happened to Frank after the first season of Born Again, but we will have to wait and see if he does indeed show up for the next round of Daredevil episodes.
Lock “N Load right here for more intel to come because 2026 is set to be the year of THE PUNISHER!!!!
