1977. That year will forever be meaningful to me as it is the year I saw Star Wars on the big screen for the first time on opening day. Yes, the much beloved franchise started by maestro George Lucas has been much maligned ever since Disney took over, but I still get excited for anything new when it comes to the galaxy far, far away. There have been hits and severe misses in recent years (I haven’t even watched The Acolyte yet and may never) but one of my favorites, The Mandalorian, hits the big screen next year and with it, a budding sense of hope and cautious optimism for what is to come. The latest big screen entry is poised and ready to hit and with it, a new teaser for the film which puts the adorable Grogu front and center along with some awesome visuals. Scroll below for your first look at The Mandalorian and Grogu!!! This is the way!
Official Synopsis: The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu also stars Sigourney Weaver and is produced by Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with music composed by Ludwig Göransson.

I love what I saw and seeing the At-At walkers again just brings me back to 1980 all over again. The action sequences look stellar and how can you miss with Baby Yoda. Yeah, yeah, I know it’s not Yoda as a baby, but I still love saying it. I’m also digging the Saturday morning serial vibe that is present in the trailer and the poster above and it is the perfect complement to how this film should be viewed.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who were instrumental in bringing the TV series to life, are back to immerse fans in the next big screen adventure of out fearless duo and adding Hollywood legend Sigourney Weaver to the cast is sheer genius. The poster and the advertising have a distinct retro 50’s and 60’s feel to it and the look of the sensational poster and title design throws it back to simpler days. that, I’m sure, is by design.

I’m probably more excited for Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars: Starfighter from Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy as it looks like Gosling will be a perfect blend of Solo and Skywalker. It remains to be seen what will transpire with any of the other Star Wars projects in development like the Rey solo film but at least we are without a doubt getting these two films.
That film unveiled a first look photo of Gosling and co-star Flynn Gray and since I was unable to share when it hit last week, you’ll find it below!

Amy Adams (Zack Snyder’s Justice League), Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), Mia Goth (Frankenstein), Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge), Simon Bird (The Inbetweeners), Jamael Westman (Good Grief) and Daniel Ings (The Gentlemen) also headline the star-studded cast (seriously though, this cast is plain sick) and Starfighter looks to bring back a swashbuckling vibe to the franchise and Gosling is on fire right now so he’s perfect to cast in a Star Wars film.
