THE RIP. (L to R) Ben Affleck as Detective Sergeant J.D. Byrne and Matt Damon as Lieutenant Dane Dumars in The Rip. Cr. Claire Folger/Netflix © 2025.
This one has been at the top of my list and with the arrival of the bullet blasting, kinetic trailer, it just shot straight to the top. From director Joe Carnahan, the new crime thriller is titled The RIP and it features an all-star cast with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon leading the surge. Scroll below for the first look at Netflix’s upcoming bullet fest!
Official Synopsis: Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on.

Bring up Affleck and Damon’s six is a stacked supporting cast including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Kyle Chandler and action icon Scott Adkins. Carnahan directs from a script he also penned. The story came from himself and Michael McGrale. Affleck and Damon also produce with Dani Bernfeld and Luciana Damon. Kevin Halloran and Michael Joe for Artists Equity serve as executive producers.
The trailer looks sensational and Carnahan has a history of delivering action bruisers like Narc, The Grey, Smokin’ Aces and The A-Team which I personally enjoyed the hell out of. He also directed the under appreciated COPSHOP which starred Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo so I’m expecting great things from this one.
As a super fan of Scott Adkins, I’m extremely jacked to see him in a sizable looking supporting role in a bigger budgeted action flick. There’s no martial arts involved here but it looks like he’ll still get to go kinetic on it. It’s also welcoming that his voice is the first one you hear when the trailer starts.
Morality is at play here as the film delves into what makes us good or evil and when does the line between the two blur. The premise is indeed weighty but the execution looks full throttle so let’s f@cking go!
The RIP hits Netflix on January 16th, 2026!
