Here’s some positivity exciting acquisition news for all you serious hardcore action aficionados out there. Variety is bringing the hammer down with the Intel that Verical has picked up the North American distribution rights for director William Kaufman’s upcoming sci-fi/action hybrid Osiris. Boasting a sensational genre cast with Max Martini, Brianna Hildebrand, LaMonica Garrett, Linds Edwards and Sarah Connor herself Linda Hamilton, this one looks to check all the required boxes for fans looking to scratch that itch.
Written by Kaufman and Paul Reichelt, “Osiris” follows “a team of Special Forces commandos in the middle of an operation who are abducted by a mysterious spacecraft. When they wake up aboard the ship, they quickly discover they are being hunted by a merciless alien race,” according to a press release.

Sounds like the perfect marriage of Aliens and 13 Hours and Kaufman rarely disappoints when it comes to delivering solid indie action and carnage on the screen. Kaufman is best known for The Channel which also starred Martini and adding Hamilton for this sci-fi tinged outing was a stroke of genius.
“Working with Max Martini for a second time, Linda Hamilton, Brianna Hildebrand and the legendary creature effects maestro Todd Masters, along with the rest of our exceptional cast and crew, to bring this old-school action sci-fi thriller to life was just incredible,” Kaufman said in a statement.
The director added, “We filmed the movie as practically as possible from the aliens, set builds, and stunts – all to stay true to the movies we love. We are thrilled to partner with Vertical to reach a wide audience that will appreciate our approach.”
It is true that Kaufman along with other indie action filmmakers like Jesse V. Johnson are the last of a breed in moviemaking who try to do the action right with retro practical effects and good ol’ fashioned stunt work to produce action films that are as authentic and immersive as possible.
“Osiris” was produced by Martini, on Wroblewski and Christian Sosa for Roosevelt Film Lab, Andrew and Isaac Lewis for Denton Film. The film is executive produced by Reichelt, David Gendron, and Ali Jazayeri. “Osiris” features cinematography by Mark Rutledge, costumes by Natalie Tippett and a score from John Roome. Paul Alix serves as production designer, with editing by Sara Kaufman.
I had the immense pleasure in interviewing Max Martini and his co-star Clayne Crawford for Kaufman’s The Channel upon its initial release. Check out the full, exclusive interview on The Action Fix Podcast below!
