I’ve been very vocal about still being excited about what essentially is Sony’s last ditch effort to have a successful marvel themed action movie. New key art for KRAVEN: THE HUNTER has been unveiled along with the first eight opening minutes of the movie online and while Sony’s Marvel-verse has epically fumbled constantly (I hated Morbius with a distinct passion and still haven’t seen the colossal train wreck that is Madame Web to this day) I’m still excited for this one. It looks like a brutal, blunt force trauma to the head with Aaron Taylor-Johnson coming into his own and rocking the fierce action design that looks unforgiving and bloody crowd pleasing. It looks to be Punisher worthy in the most violent comic book movie category so we definitely need more of those. Russell Crowe is always watchable in anything and I have enjoyed the red band trailers extensively so my expectation meter is set to moderate but hopefully this will surprise a lot of people. Plus, it comes out 3 days after my birthday so yeah, Happy delivery day to me!
Scroll below for the hyper kinetic and violent opening salvo of that will hopefully be a winning combination of comic book adaptation and R rated ferocious bloodshed!
Official Synopsis: Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.

J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year, Triple Frontier) helms the film from a script penned by Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight, Uncharted). A top notch supporting cast including Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, Fred Hechinger, and Levi Miller also star alongside Taylor-Johnson.
The latest new video of the film’s first eight minutes demonstrates that he’s the classic Spider-Man villain for a new generation as well as the old. The trailer shows off the movie’s bloodlust as Kraven runs a gauntlet of adversaries and annihilates them with some over the top extreme prejudice and violence. Think Rambo crossed with Tarzan on steroids, and you get the concept. I’m sold for now so I’m eagerly awaiting this one. After the failure that was Morbius, I’m cautiously optimistic after viewing.
Even with all the delays and the crushing blow of Sony delivering two disastrous comic book adaptations in Morbius and Madame Web (I still have t seen the latter), I’m still excited for KRAVEN and it looks like a deliriously, bloody, dismembering good time with epic set pieces and brutal, bone jarring action design. This new trailer further cements my awaiting expectations, and no negativity will deter me so don’t even try to crush my enthusiasm social media.
