Marvel Unleashes 9 Minutes of Deadpool & Wolverine!

“Friends don’t let friends dress like they play for the Los Angeles Rams.”
I really wish I had the opportunity as an action film site blogger…wait…I meant CEO and owner of an action film site (yeah, that sounds more important) as those in attendance are really treated to some exclusive swag and footage to some of the most anticipated films of the year. There is no bigger movie this summer than Deadpool & Wolverine and I feel that this film will resurrect the MCU and put it on the right path for the future. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are gold together and to have them as their counterparts i.e. Deadpool & Wolverine, this Marvel movie is destined to go down as on of the best. After all, it’s literally the first R Rated MCU flick so whoa there’s that.
Deadpool and Logan introduced the panel with a live and humorous intro that was described as “a foul-mouthed “turn off your cell phones” PSA” Reynolds and Jackman then proceeded to scream at the audience with Jackman decked out in full comic book accurate Wolverine attire. That right there was worth the price of admission alone.
That was not all of it though as the audience was treated with a whopping 9 minutes of can only see here footage from the July release and JoBlo was there to cover. WARNING: Here come the spoilers!!!

The footage opens with Wade Wilson working as a used car salesman alongside Peter (Rob Delaney). He attempts to sell a Kia to a family in a particularly filthy manner. While hanging out with Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), he’s asked if he wants to do cocaine, which prompts him to reply, “Cocaine is the one thing Feige said is off limits.” Wade is then kidnapped by the TVA and sent on a mission by Matthew MacFayden’s character, which includes “lots of gratuitous cameos,” including one from a current MCU star we won’t mention here. A sizzle reel followed which includes Deadpool and Wolverine in a car together.
MCU leader Kevin Feige was also in attendance, and he called the footage “f@cking amazing” which would suggest that Feige is embracing the R rated nature of it all. Fanboys and girls have every right to be excited for this one so bring on July already!!!!
Anthony Mackie Brings the Patriotism with New Footage of Captain America: Brave New World!

Along with cussing on the stage, Kevin Feige then introduced the new Captain America in Anthony Mackie who took to the center stage to show off some trailblazing new footage of Brave New World. I’m excited for this one as well as Feige has stated that this one will be grounded like Captain America: The Winter Soldier which is in the top 3 of my all-time favorite comic book themed films. Before the footage was shown. Feige also gave an exclusive update on the highly anticipated Fantastic Four movie. That MCU entry is supposed to start rolling cameras in a few months. Feige also mentioned that the new Thunderbolts film does have an asterisks next to its title for now. No one knows what the hell that means but all Feige would say for now is “We don’t tell you any more about that until the film comes out.” I’m intrigued and can’t wait to see what the actual title is. Now on with the Captain America footage details!!!

The footage finds Mackie’s Captain America meeting up with Harrison Ford’s President Ross, who thanks him for everything he’s done and asks him to help rebuild the Avengers. The President later honors Captain America at an event which is interrupted by Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), who attempts to kill the President along with an army of sleeper agents. Sam Wilson takes care of the sleeper agents in a very cool action scene, which ends with President Ross telling Sam, “You’re not Steve Rogers.” Sam responds defiantly, “You’re right, I’m not.” Per JoBlo
Entertainment Weekly also served a new image of Mackie and co-star Harrison Ford who has taken over the role of General Ross after William Hurt sadly passed away. Check it out below!

Captain America has always been one of my all-time favorite superheroes so I am waiting impatiently to see what Mackie does with his first all out outing as the iconic defender of America.
New Footage of Alien: Romulus Drips with Blood and Carnage!

Not to be outdone with the MCU portion of the panel, Disney also brought the 20th Century Studios franchise flick Alien: Romulus and showed off some blood drenched new scenes from the anticipated next installment of the sci-fi/horror franchise. I was not thrilled when this one was announced as I wish that the supposed ALIENS sequel by Neil Blomkamp was nixed in order for Ridley Scott to do his Promethius and Alien: Covenant films (FYI- I’m not a fan of them). When the trailer was released last month, however, I was onboard especially when lead star Cailee Spaeny was shown strapped with the iconic M-41a pulse rifle from the second film. What can I say, it takes little to please me. Now on with the footage details courtesy of JoBlo!
An exclusive extended scene from Alien: Romulus was screened a CinemaCon which followed Cailee Spaeny’s character wandering through a broken-down spaceship corridor with Aileen Wu’s character. They see a ripped-apart android among the debris. David Jonsson’s character, who is an android himself, is rebooting with an interesting effect in his eyes, but at that moment, a swarm of face-huggers burst into the room, chasing the characters out. We saw a bit of this scene in the teaser.
One character turns out to have been impregnated by a face-hugger, with a baby xenomorph bursting through their ribcage in an extremely bloody scene. The face-hugger and baby xeno are quite close to their appearances in the original movie, and best of all, they’re done with beautiful practical effects. The tone is said to be very similar to Álvarez’s Evil Dead movie, although not quite as bloody but still far more visceral than either Prometheus or Alien: Covenant.
Okay, let me just say that I am totally onboard with this new installment of the Alien franchise and am loving the fact that it’s paying homage to the original classic. Maybe if this one is successful, we will get a sequel akin to James Cameron’s second iconic film where there is one huge all-out M-41A pulse rifle war on the xenomorphs. I can dream can’t I. Alien: Romulus looks like a nightmare inducing good time and I will be there opening weekend to witness the bloodbath.
Unfortunately, us normal folk will have to wait to see any of this awesome footage that was shpwcased at CinemaCon, but you can bet that when any of it hits, you’ll see it at Action-Flix because we are your ultimate destination for your Action & Comic Book Fix!!!
