Well the day is at hand and I’m still loopy from the pain meds I’m taking sue to my major shoulder surgery I had on Monday but I had to share the new trailer for The Crow, bad haircut and all. Bill Skarsgard if the newest disciple of vengeance and before the credits roll, those responsible for his death and his love of his life will pay the ultimate price in a nourish new take on the iconic underground comic book.
Official Synopsis: Eric Draven (Bill Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

The trailer definitely promises a hard R rated experience with numerous bloody kills and Skarsgard soaking up the horror laced ambiance and looking as cool as can be while doing it. I’m still going on record as I don’t like his look this time around and his performance will be overshadowed by Brandon but it looks decent enough to warrant a viewing and a chance.

Rupert Sanders helms the pic which will see a June 7th release date and as of right now competition with Bad Boys 4.
The rest of the cast includes X-Men alum Danny Huston who was recently seen in Yellowstone, and he portrays the main antagonist of the movie. Isabella Wei (1899), Laura Birn (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Sami Bouajila (The Bouncer), and Jordan Bolger (Peaky Blinders) round out the cast.
There’s no denying that Skarsgard has the dramatic chops and judging from his skills in the trailer for Boy Kills World which hits theaters in April ahead of The Crow, he will excel at the adrenaline set pieces as well. Coming from someone who has adored the Brandon Lee version, I’m intrigued to see how this one fairs as I have hated each and every sequel that came after. The TV series with Mark Dacascos had a DTV fun feel to it but that was about it. The critics and naysayers will certainly be out in force today to shoot down this trailer so it’ll be fun to read the reactions of anything else.
The Crow hits cinemas on June 7th from Lionsgate!
