With the film franchise on ice after the disappointing releases of the last host of films, the Terminator franchise is going the ANIME rout this time as Netflix has unveiled a teaser for their upcoming TERMINATOR: THE ANIME SERIES. Now before you all get excited, the teaser is exactly just that…a teaser as it’s pretty much just a title reveal. The tease does come complete with Brad Fiedel’s iconic score so that right there is enough to give you some futuristic goose bumps. Check out the teaser below!
Official Synopsis: A future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: the A.I. known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity. Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new A.I. system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.

As a long time fan of Terminator, I have found something to like about all the films after the blockbuster second one. Sure, I could go over negatives but for me, they’re still entertaining and a killer Sci-Fi rush. That’s just my opinion though.
Franchise star and action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger is doing a lot of work for Netflix having done the FUBAR series so maybe he’ll return to do some voice over for the new series. A voice cast has yet to be announced and there is no release date except for the news that it will hit sometime next year so it’s early yet.
Unfortunately, James Cameron appears to not be involved with this project but that doesn’t mean anything. Cameron had a hand with the last movie Dark Fate and it was still poorly received when it hit theaters. Skydance, Japan Animation Studio Production I.G., and Mattson Tomlin (Mother/Android) are responsible for this latest creation. We will just have to play the waiting game.
