Happy Monday to all the genre geeks out there! It’s been a hectic week and one that sees me moving again so I apologize for being MIA a lot but hopefully when I’m settled, I’ll get back into my groove but until then I’m playing catch up. What a great way to start the new week as Netflix rolled out an action packed and fire fueled new look at Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire.
If you got your rocks off with the last trailer then this one is going to definitely blow your socks off as it features a much more wild viewing experience of the hyper-kinetic action set pieces in store for Snyder’s highly ambitious space opera that combines the best elements of Star Wars with The Seven Samurai. Why am I still talking though? Check out the fist pumping new look below!
Per Variety: Snyder’s epic space adventure film stars Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman and Cary Elwes. The story centers on a young woman living on the outskirts of a galaxy who must find a group of warriors to save the galaxy from an invasion from a tyrant.

One cool aspect of this new and potentially volatile new franchise is that Snyder revealed that Rebel Moon takes place in a shared universe with his other Netflix offering Army of the Dead. One takes place in space obviously while the latter happened in a post apocalyptic Las Vegas on Earth but there’s a lot of potential here and Snyder’s mind is clearly on hyper drive.
“’Army of the Dead’ has a pretty vast mythology that never made it into the movie,” Snyder said told Total Film. “There’s actually a character from ‘Rebel Moon’ in the ‘Army of the Dead’ animated series that we never did.”
One thing is for sure, when Rebel Moon hits Netflix with Part 1 on December 22nd, it’s going to break the streaming service with all the views. The movie will have a limited theatrical run starring on December 15th so if you’re lucky enough, this is definitely one to see on the biggest screen imaginable.
Snyder also revealed that both parts of Rebel Moon will have unrated director’s cuts that will serve up the bloodshed. Snyder’s script for the film was so huge at 172 pages that Netflix agreed to split it into two movies.
Rebel Moon: Part 2 — The Scargiver will launch on Netflix next year on April 19th!
