While the Disney+ MCU series have been hit or miss, one of the bright spots, at least in my eyes, was the event series centered around Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. Always being a favorite character of mine, I thought the Christmas themed episodes were a terrific blend of comedy, drama and well executed action set pieces.
One of the biggest pluses for the show was the inclusion of Alaqua Cox’s character of Echo orcas her real name is Maya Lopez. The deaf warrior was a bad ass part of the show and so much so that she warranted her own spin-off which will see come to fruition with a 5 part event series that just launched a teaser trailer. Check out Cox in action below!
The five-episode streaming event spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire.
When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy. All five episodes will stream on Jan. 10 on both platforms. They’ll be available on Hulu until April 9. This marks the first Marvel Studios series to drop all entirely bingeable episodes at once.

Echo will hit Disney+ and Hulu simultaneously starting on Wednesday, January 10 so mark your calendars accordingly.
The character of Maya Lopez AKA Echo is a lesser known Marvel Comics entity who is is a deaf Native American woman who has the uncanny ability to copy other people’s movements perfectly. She is also adapt in gymnastics and martial arts making her the ultimate human weapon. Oh yeah, she’s also the adopted daughter of Wilson Fisk AKA The Kingpin (Vincent D’Onorfrio) so it’s a little dysfunctional to say the least.
Along with D’Onofrio reprising his character, Charlie Cox will also return as Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil with Zahn McClarnon (Fargo), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs), Cody Lightning, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, and Graham Greene rounding out the cast.
