The minute I saw this, I was hooked as we have the official trailer for the new cop action-thriller Muzzle which stars Has Fallen franchise star Aaron Eckhart as a K-9 officer who loses his dedicated furry partner in a lethal shootout with drug runners and now he’s ready to take one serious bite out of crime. The plot thickens when he teams up with a new K-9 named Socks who has one mean streak and, wait for it, titanium incisors. I got your interest peeked haven’t I. LAPD K-9 officer Jake Rosser (Aaron Eckhart) and his K-9 partner Ace battle it out on the streets of LA when they get into a shootout with local drug dealers and Ace is shot dead. In a moment of crisis, Jake tries to get an EMT to look at Ace and assaults him when he refuses, resulting in him taking leave from the force. Blocked by Internal Affairs, muzzled by his own superiors from finding the shooter’s identity, Jake resolves to go rogue and partners with “Socks”, a violent K-9 with titanium incisors and mysterious past. Jake and Socks aim to uncover a vast conspiracy that has a chokehold on the city and take vengeance on those responsible.
Muzzle is helmed by filmmaker John Stalberg Jr. The screenplay was penned by Carlyle Eubank. Eckhart stars along with the always dependable Stephen Lang, Penelope Mitchell, Diego Tinoco, Paul Johansson, Hemky Madera, and Kyle Smithson.
Eckhart is one of the most solid and reliable character actors out there and this one looks high-octane with some serious bite (see what I did there?). I loved Eckhart in the cop thriller Line of Duty so it’s great to see him revisiting the subgenre and Socks just looks bad ass and fury.
