It’s hard to believe that the Sniper franchise started over 30 years ago with the OG military actioner starring Tom Berenger and Billy Zane who played rival Marine snipers on a classified mission that needed the best of the best. Cut to 2023 and here we are with an unprecedented tenth film awaiting release this September and Chad Michael Collins is back headlining his, count ‘em, seventh adventure as Brandon Becket, son of Berenger’s original character Thomas Becket.
It’s go time and we’re jocking up once again as Brandon Becket and company including returning franchise stars Ryan Robbins, and genre icon Dennis Haysbert are all back and they’re going global with the launch of the newly formed G.R.I.T. Unit which stands for Global Response and & Intelligence Team. Unfortunately, Sayaka Akimoto isn’t in this one as Lady Death but she’s replaced in the role by Luna Fujimoto who looks well up to the task of filling her shoes.
Titled Sniper: G.R.I.T., there’s a new terrorist threat threatening freedom and peace but they have met they’re match in former Marine turned elite agent and crack sniper ace Brandon Becket and his elite crew who don’t know how to say quit and have the necessary skill set to neutralize the new threat with extreme precision.

When an international terrorist cult threatens global political stability and kidnaps a fellow agent, Ace Sniper Brandon Beckett and the newly-formed Global Response & Intelligence Team — or G.R.I.T. — led by Colonel Stone, must travel across the world to Malta, infiltrate the cult, and take out its leader to free Lady Death and stop the global threat.
The last film, Sniper: Rogue Mission, took the franchise in a different direction injecting a lot more humor into the proceedings which was hit or miss with franchise fans. This one looks to do the same to a point so we’ll see how it stacks up to the previous entries in terms of high caliber action and entertainment. Oliver Thompson helms this round from a script that he also wrote. Josh Brenner, who made his debut in the last movie, returns as Intel Pete once again serving up a great deal of levity to keep the proceedings moving at a rapid fire pace.
I enjoyed the previous film and the new feel it had as it had a surefire finale and I dig that they’re going the team route who has injected new life into the franchise and keeping Ryan Robbins and Dennis Haysbert on as franchise regulars. The new trailer promises more target acquired set pieces with bullets, explosions and fisticuffs galore so strap in for number ten!
Sniper: G.R.I.T. hits Digital on September 26th followed by the Blu-Ray launch the following month in October 10th so lock n load right here for more future Intel as we are your Action Fix!!!
